Developments in technology have brought various environmental problems. Some believe that people need to live simpler lives to solve environmental problems. Others, however, believe technology is the way to solve these problems. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.?
Improvements in technology bring out negative effects on our environment. It is argued that people should have a simpler life to tackle environmental problems. I believe that technological improvements can probably help us to protect our environment.
On the one hand, there are two main reasons why people should live more simply so that we are able to rely less on technology. Firstly, people could walk or cycle rather than drive car in order to reduce plenty of air pollution. This is because of a dramatic increase in using private car in recent years, which lead to producing a significant emission. Secondly, if people are able to reduce consumption of electricity, they would make properly contributions to decline exploitation of natural resource. For example, an event that is called “Earth Hour” have asked a large number of people to turn their light off, with the main aim is that encourage them to use energy more economically.
On the other hand, the technological improvements also help greatly contribute for our protecting environment. Firstly, it helps people come up with ways to recycle materials that are no longer used by new technologies, which could visibly reduce problems of waste disposal. Secondly, the current technological methods could create plenty of electricity using renewable resource. For example, the numerous companies of countries in the word have built plants that utilize solar energy in creating electricity. This is a productive way to assist people not relying on non-renewable.
In conclusion, while having a simpler living could help people deal with environment issues, but in my opinion technological advances also make people protect environment significantly.
