Life of the elderly in the modern world is much easier than in the past. Discuss both opinions and give your own opinion.
Nowadays, the development of economy and science & technology enhances the life quality significantly. Some people believe that the modern world makes the elderly has an easier life than before whereas others suppose that the old people can meet negative proplems in the contemporary period. I would argue that it has both a positive and a negative side.
On the one hand, there are a variety of reasons why currently the older’s life becomes easier than in the past. Firstly, by modern hearthcare system, the elderly people will be taken care better. For example, they can be checked heath regularly or treatment of diseases at home by personal doctors without going to hospital. Secondly, living in good condition, they have many opportunity to enjoy the life and do everything they love such as entertainment, sports or travelling around the world.
On the other hand, living in the develop society has some disadvantages for the elderly. First, the old people is difficult to keep up with the new trends of society so the gap between generations is expanding. For instance, the tattoo culture of young people which shows the individuality of each person is very popular nowadays but it is bad in the minds of the old. Furthermore, modern life makes the elderly living alone with the lack of affection. They have to face illness and old age without the support or care of their children. To take an example, in Korea, a 60-year-old man died in his apartment without anyone knowing until his neighbors smell the stench coming out of the corridor.
In conclusion, while living in a modern world does have some benefits for the elderly, it seems to have negative side effects on the lives of the elderly.
