Discuss both view and give your own opinion.
Some people believe that books, TV and movies can totally replace parents in providing children with stories. While I think that through activities like telling stories, parents can grow their relationship and share their own life experiences with their children.
On the one hand, the development of modern means of media is undeniable. They allow children to access to a great deal of information at any time and in any where. Through these diverse sources of information, children can learn many things by themselves without the supervision from their parents. For example, they can watch an English cartoon on TV and learn English by shadowing the speakers. That is to say, a simple movie which is told with vivid colours and sound can attract children and interest them in learning new things.
On the other hand, parents’ storytelling can strenghthen family relationship. From early years, even when an infant is unable to read and watch movie, mother can read them books and talk to them. This will not only promote the baby’s congnition but also build up an unbreakable bond between a mother and a child. In addition, children can gain their life experiences thanks to their parents’ stories. For instance, mother can share with her children the story of Cinderella and teach them to be kind and have courage. Needless to say, if children can recieve the life lessons from their parents, their well-being and humanity will be improved in a long term.
In conclusion, besides letting children access to other sources of information, parents should spend time sharing stories with their children for the sake of their bonding promotion and the development of their children.
