The pie charts compare the amount of water spent for various functions in six regions of the world.
It is noticeable that agricultural usage accounts for the highest percentage of total water consumption in South America, Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia. Meanwhile, North America and Europe spend the largest amount of water for industrial purpose.
The proportion of water used for agricultural production in South America, Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia is 71%, 84%, 88%, and 81% respectively. Whereas, the percentage of water used for agricultural purpose in North America and Europe is over 30% lower than that of these above regions.
America and Europe spend the highest percentage of water for the industry. In North America, 48% of water is allocated for industrial operation which is 5% lower than that of Europe area. By contrast, water used for household purpose amounts to the lowest proportion in both regions.
