Scientific research should be carried out and controlled by the governments rather than private companies. Do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, many studies have done by private author instead of government controlling. While there are some advantages of individual investigation, I strongly believe that research project should be execute by government.
Private conduct is the reasons for possible error which include in the report. Firstly, the result of the personal view may be flawed due to profit motive. For example, while some studies related to some types antidepressant has conclusion that women can use through their pregnancy, the outcome made by doctor said the opposite. The wrong conclusion may danger for consumer but generate profit to the company who conduct this. Secondly, from ethical perspective, result from the private research is the reason for social problems. For example, GM food are unproven for their benefit, the government have not done enough research, but there are the controversy about the wide range of GM corp. There are whole species of birds that are in danger of becoming extinct because of the chemicals they are using on GM food.
There are two main reasons why the government should control research. On the one hand, the universities under the government are non-profit organization which have the leading professor with high-quality research. The university examination are fair and independent, it does not work for any advertising, company or even individual benefit. On the other hand, Expenditure on areas of research can be control by government. The field with high concern such as climate change need to invest the large sums of money in a long time to find the answer to solve the problems and the government is the only one who can meet the demand.
In conclusion, I totally agree with the view that governments should be responsibility for scientific research.
