A report indicated that many children between 7 and 11 spend too much time watching television and playing video games. How does this problem affect children? What measure can be taken to control it?
It is true that children have recently allocated excessive time to immerse themselves into watching films or playing games. Personally, I strongly believe that this trend might exert some negative consequences on kids and parents and schools should take actions to tackle this problem.
On the one hand, siting glued to the screen can present numerous detrimental effects on children in a number of fronts. To begin with, children are likely to suffer from eye-related problems or obesity owning to the deteriorating sedentary lifestyles. For instance, the vast majority of Vietnamese schoolchildren nowadays have to wear short sighted glasses due to the fact that they spend six or more hours per day on television or some high-tech devices. Furthermore, this habit would reduce time children catch up on their peers’ live or acquire some necessary skills like interpersonal skills or creativity. In this way, both their future career path and social relationships tend to be vulnerable.
On the other hand, I still argue that the involvement of parents and schools are of great significance to mitigate this issue for a couple of reasons. In fact, with the fast-paced lifestyles, parents in some metropolises have an inclination paying heed to their work rather than playing with their kids. Hence, parents should enhance the quality time to enable children to share their confidences well as teach them some moral lesson relating to codes of conduct. In terms of schools’ role, it is of the essence for teachers to encourage schoolchildren to take part in outdoor activities or furnish them with knowledge and information involving in deleterious impact of this habit. This would help them dispel any ideas of playing video games and watching television with a long period.
In conclusion, spending too much time on screen triggers numerous adverse results for children and parents and school play pivotal parts to alleviate this issue.
