The table provided illustrates the changes in the proportion of citizens living in three kinds of accommodation in Australia between 2001 and 2006.
It is evident that the percentage of people living their private house decreased in three regions in Australia over the period shown, while the opposite trend was true of others.
In 2001, the rate of inhabitants choosing to live in their own house was the highest in Tasmania with 88%, although this dipped minimally to 86% five years later; a difference of 2%. By contrast, the number of people settling in semi-detached houses in this country just accounted for the lowest figure of 4%, remaining consistently unchanged until 2006. Meanwhile, Victoria and Northern Territory experienced the marginal upward trend by 1% to reach 13% and 10%, respectively in 2006.
Moreover, the flat and apartment seemed not to be prominent in three countries shown in 2001, but these countries witnessed the slight growth by 1% for each, with 12%, 9% and 8% for Victoria, Northern Territory and Tasmani, respectively in 2006. Finally, other kinds of housing in Northern Territory constituted the highest portion of 12% in the first year of surveyed period.
