Opinion essay:
Topic 09/01/2016:It is more important for schoolchildren to learn about local history than world history. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is argued that having an understanding about local history is far more essential than researching that of the world. From my point of view, the mentioned idea is unjustifiable and should be rejected as the values of local and world history are equally important. This essay will first discuss how having knowledge about domestic history would affect and improve children’s awareness and then, analyze how world history benefits them.
On the one hand, studying the history of their hometown is an effective way to build up children’s patriotism. As an indispensable part of the curriculum program, the educators can supply children with a thorough insight into their origin. In other words, young children could have an in depth understanding about the development of their country, from how it was formed to the ways their ancestors fought against outside invaders to reclaim their sovereignty. Moreover, thanks to getting to know local history, young children could also acquire knowledge about their hometown’s traditional values and cultural identity on a more specific manner. For instance, thanks to history lesson, a Vietnamese student might be aware that his country is an integrated part of different cultures, historically formed from generation to generation. As a result, every single student would eventually take great pride in their cultural background, urging them to lend a helping hand in avoiding the cultural dissimilation in a globalization like now.
On the other hand, learning about international history shares an equal importance as the local one. Indeed, acquiring knowledge about the world’s past events equips young children with a more well-rounded perspective of life. For instance, having knowledge about the World war or the Berlin wall, the construction of the Great wall of China would definitely accelerate children’s understanding about various aspects of life. In addition to this, being taught about the word’s backgrounds would certainly be of great benefit when children enter the working floor in the future. Obviously, a thorough understanding of life, including different cultures, histories [số nhiều đúng không nhỉ] would be a golden selling point for those who tend to apply to a company where cultural acquisition is incredibly appreciated.
In conclusion, both local and world history should be compulsorily taught in schools, and I firmly believe that they are of equal significance and have distinctively equal [ thay từ gì nhỉ] meanings to children.Attachments:
