The given table illustrates the date opened, kilometers of route and the number of passengers per year of railway systems in several cities in the world namely London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles.
It can be clearly seen that the first railway systems were built in London in 1863. Four in five other cities including Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC and Kyoto had railway systems in 1900s. In 2001, the citizens of Los Angeles city were used railway systems. According to the kilometers of route column, we can see that London is the city that have the longest route with 397 kilometers, followed by Paris, Tokyo Washington DC with 199 kilometers, 155 kilometers, 126 kilometers respectively. Los Angeles and Kyoto had under 30 kilometers of route. As can be seen from the table, there are a lot of people who use the railway in Tokyo, Paris and London with 1927 million, 1191 million and 775 million passengers per year respectively while in three other cities, the railway is not really a popular vehicle.
