__________________________________________________________________________________________The line graph illustrates the number of books which were read by male and female readers of Burnaby Public Library between 2011 and 2014.
Overall, both the genders witnessed a considerable growth in the number of books read over the period of three years. Although the two trends were similar in terms of a general increase, the number of books read by women in most years was higher than that of men.
In the period 2011-2013, the quantity of books read by females rose gradually from approximately 5000 books to slightly more than 10000 books in 2013. After reaching a peak of 10000 books in 2013, the figure for female readers fell rapidly to marginally above 8000 books in the year 2014.
Over the same period, the figure for men increased during the three years at a more faster pace than that of women. In particular, in the first year of the period, it rose moderately from about 3000 books in 2011 to 4000 books in 2012. The following two years experienced a dramatic increase in the number of books read by men, of 10000 books, to the highest number of the chart, 14000 in 2014.
