The linegraph illustrates the number of viewers watching the Channel One News daily in terms of four-hour categories during a year.
Overall, it is clear that the 9.30pm news experienced a striking change while the 1 pm news remained at the same level throughout the period shown. In particular, the 11pm news was introduced in May.
In January, almost 5 million of viewers watched daily news at 6pm, which was the highest point of the whole line graph, compared with about 3.2 million of audiences watching 9.30pm news. The figure for the 1pm news remained steady at around 1.2 millon of viewrer per day until December. The 11pm news was brought in May but it almost hit the bottom under 0.5 million of spectators.
In August, there was a shark increase in the number of viewers for the 11pm news, reaching a peak of over 4 million. By contrast, the figure for the 9.30 pm decreased significantly at about 1 million.The watching figure for the 6pm news fluctuated, and this finally reached a figure of just over 3 million of viewers per day in December.
