The chart compares and constrats the data of exportation of eleven sectors from Papua New Guinea in 1982 and 1991.
Overall, gold, copper and forest products accounted for the largest proportion of exportation in both years. In addition, the proportion of coffee and gold saw a significant change over time, while there were only few small changes in the remaining categories.
In both years, gold remained as the most exported commodity which made up 31.9% in 1982 and remarkably increased upto 52% in 1991. By contrast, the proportion of coffee exportation accounted for a quite considerable amount at 14.4% in 1982 but later dropped nearly four times to only 3.7%.
The percentage of copper and forest products stabilised as a high amount of exportation only after gold with slight fall around 2% to 4%, from 22.8% to 16.2% in the rate of copper and from 11.5% to 9.3% in the rate of forest products . In particular, the rate of palm oil exportation remained still at exactly 4% in both years.
