Some people believe that allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters (such as food, clothes andentertainment) is likely to result in a society of individuals who only think about their own wishes. Other people believethat it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. The belief that teaching the youth to think independently and have their own decisions has recently generated increasing arguments. Many believe that this tendency will bring children futuristic benefits, whereas others claim that a lot of issues on greed may appear. From my perspective, I am in favor of the former for a number of specific reasons.
On the one hand, it is a common fact that letting children make up their minds may unintendedly allow them to become selfish and even narcissistic. Generally, once getting used to deciding on themselves, youngsters will start to refuse comments and advices from others, especially their parents who are considered moral. As a result, children might get in several serious and unwanted troubles due to their overconfidence and lack of thorough thinking. Moreover, supporters for this opinion state that adolescences are too little to possess a complete cognition. For this reason, they can barely distinguish between right and wrong which may probably cause severely false upbringing problems.
Conversely, I would strongly argue that adults should encourage youngsters to become unreliable and develop a separate mindset due to various advantages. Firstly, as a matter of fact, making their own choices will force them to accept responsibilities and prevent putting blames on others. For example, if a child is allowed to choose the food they prefer to eat, whether it turns out tasteful or not, they will eventually have to finish it right away. Secondly, not only keeping children from depending on surrounders but deciding alone can power teenagers teenagers with a great deal of confidence and belief in themselves. Likewise, they will no longer be restricted from creativity which will bring them opportunities and success in the future.
All things considered, while making children be independent when it comes to decisions might appear to arouse such selfish matters, it is undeniable that the benefits it provides basically beat all those trivial downsides.
