Overall, it can be seen from the figures that far more people claimed to get married than the ones who suffered judicial separation. Meanwhile, the proportion of single adults was hugely overtaken by that of marriages.
A more detailed look at the charts reveals that after remaining the same at 2.5 millions in 1970 and 1980, number of marriages seemed to experience a slight decline and then stayed at 2 millions in 2000. Similarly, subsequent to a peak at around 1.4 millions in 1980, the rate for divorces was seen to fall gradually to 1 million in 2000. In terms of martial status, while considerably more humans in 2000 never got married or divorced, less of those became widowed or came to marriages than in 1970.
