The table compares and contrasts data on the differences in pastime pursuit preferences for 6 activities from different age groups in both sexes.
In general, participants in all activities listed decreased with age, with the notable exception of meditation for both genders as well as jogging and fishing for females and males respectively.
A closer inspection reveals that team sports were most favored by men in the youngest age bracket, achieving a hefty 97% for basketball, 87% for baseball and 78% for football. This contrasted markedly with their 46 plus counterparts figures, recorded no more than 3% each. The biggest difference in level of preference between men and women, in any age group, was in 21-to 35-year-old participants in baseball. While 87% of males surveyed took up baseball, only a minority of the opposite gender (2%) chose this sport as their leisure activity, a difference of over 80%.
Of the remaining categories, while none of people between 21 and 35 years of age opted for meditation, it was most popular in the oldest age group with figures of 42%, which was nearly 1,5 times larger than the combined percentage of the other two ranges. One further point to note is that the only 2 activities that had equal female participants from 36 to 45 and above 46 years old were jogging and fishing, at 31% and 0% respectively.
