Some people nowadays suggest that building railways should be invested more than roads. While I agree that it is good to spend money on railways, I disagree on investing in railways more than roads.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why government should build a qualified rail tracks. Firstly, it is convenient for people to move in and out of their location safely and fast by trains which are on the railways connecting other places in a country. Secondly, country having various means of transportation could attract tourists. They have more choices when choosing the means of travelling. For example, travelers can get to Nha Trang from HCM by train instead of flight in order to save money. It only takes them 6 hours night-sleeping on train to arrive there.
On other hand, I disagree that government should invest in roads less than railways. The main reason is roads are still the main track of transportation in a country. Therefore, roads should be durable for smooth traffic and safe for residents. For instance, the roadways in small province are narrow and dramatically broken by bad weather or heavy vehicles. Consequently, annual statistics shows that there is high percentage of accidents happening in Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan. If the road are widen and more qualified, this number could highly reduce. Besides that, nice roadways and foot-tracks in a city increase the civilization of a city. It shows that government has good city planning and concerns in citizens’ quality of living. People also comply with traffic rules when they are on the systematic traffic system. As a result, society could be more civilized and safer. All in all, this area can attract more tourists and investments which contribute in developing the economy of a country.
In conclusion, it is necessary to set a various transporting system with different kinds of methods. However, in my opinion, government should not invest in railways rather than roads because of main reasons mentioned in this essay.
