Overall, the figures for landline, fixed broadband, Internet, and wifi experienced upward trends, while the percentage of mobile or cell phone decreased during the given period.
In 1998, the data for landline being used was highest, at roughly 8%, which was followed by that for mobile or cell phone, at approximately 6%. Around 2% and almost 0% of the worldwide use of information and communication technology came from Internet and fixed broadband. At the same time, wifi was not used yet until 2003.
In 2007, the proportion of mobile or cell phone reached the highest point of about 45% before declining considerably almost 0% in 2008. Meanwhile, in 2008, the data for Internet climbed significantly to nearly 22% and became the highest figure from the chart. There were sharp rises to precisely 20% and about 14% of landline and fixed broadband correspondingly. Also, the figure for wifi went up rapidly roughly 15% as the period wrapped up in 2008.
