New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do
advantages of this outweigh disadvantages?

It is generally agreed that the cutting-edge technology has opened the door
to greater opportunities for young generation. However, there are some pros
and cons need to take into consideration in this field. In my opinion, I
strongly believe that the disadvantages of such phenomenon outweigh the
advantages in various way.

To start with, there are surely some benefits that children can have with
new technologies. First, the innovative devices such as computers or Ipad
help children to diversified their learning methods. For example, nowadays,
not only do children learn their lessons on a textbook, but also can
actually see it virtually through computers. Second, thanks to the
development of high technology, more and more applicants on smart phone and
tablet that are designed attractively for children to enrich their
knowledge effectively.

However, this phenomenon is not entirely free from drawbacks. The first and
foremost negative impact that this trend has on children is the increasing
number of computer addiction or video games to be exact. Due to many hours
spending on computer games without the discipline from their parents,
children do not have the awareness of self-control and continue to play
games nonstop. Therefore, they might be distracted from their study and
earn lower results. Moreover, health is another merit that need to take
into account since the children do not take any exercise to improve their
health. Last but not least, a major devastating effect that this habit
causes on children is the significant decrease on communication skill.

On the whole, despite some benefits that children may have when playing
with modern devices in their leisure time, the adverse effects surely
outweigh more than benefits. Parents should be more discipline with their
offspring to prevent unwanted physical and mental problems later on.
