Chữa bài IELTS Task 2
The best way for governments to solve the problem of traffic congestion is to provide free public transport in 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is becoming increasingly common to hear that commuters should be exempt from public transport fees to alleviate the congested streets in most big cities. From my own perspective, I believe that this suggestion might reduce the number of vehicles, but also cause other unexpected results.
On the one hand, it is obvious that encouraging people to use public transport by paying all fees would probably solve the traffic jams problem . Firstly, it seems logical that when people have a tendency to using trains or buses for daily travels, the number of private vehicles would decline significantly, and the congested problem in rush hour, therefore, would disappear. Secondly, daily passengers could change their commuting time when the governments provide free public transport for a whole day. For example, a passenger who usually leaves the office at 5 p.m could stay late and take a bus at 9 instead without worrying of having no bus or train. By this way, the amount of commuting would reduce and the jamming situation in specific hours would no longer happen.
On the other hand, I think that this idea is likely to have some inevitable consequences. Firstly, instead of congestions on streets, there would be exceedingly jammed crowds on trains or buses, which can be the culprit of other crimes like burglars. In this sense, public transports are perhaps not a suggested option for citizens. Secondly, it is believed that it would take time for some people particularly for who lives in the outskirts of sprawling centres when using buses or trains for daily travels, which might reduce the time for studies and works and affect human’s physical conditions. From this view, providing free public transport might cause more serious matters for human being.
In conclusion, I think that governments can pay for all fees of public transport to deal with the traffic jams problem, but it might be the contribution to numerous negative consequences.Attachments:
