Some people think computers are more important in education. Others believe
teachers play a more important role. Discuss both views and give your opinion?
People have different views about what factors play a vitally important role in education. While computers are important to some extent, I would argue that teachers are much more crucial.
On the one hand, there are several advantages of computers. First, since computers can provide an endless number of new and modern applications, these devices might help students learn a quick and convenient way. For example, as computers enable students to use Microsoft Word to type documents instead of handwriting, learners can save an amount of time. Second, because computers can be connected to the Internet, these devices are able to offer huge sources of information. For instance, by watching videos on Youtube, students are more likely to improve their English pronunciation, which allows them to enlarge their effective learning.
On the other hand, I believe teachers exert profound benefits in some ways. Firstly, since teachers who have been well-trained through many years have experience and teaching skills, students’ development is arranged stage by stage, step by step. By this way, students’ acquisition of knowledge is guided and backed up in systematic way. In addition, in order to give feedback to help students improve their weaknesses, students are required to interact directly with teachers, which allows them to avoid the same mistakes in the future. In fact, if students only study with computers, they would not receive any comments or suggestions, which contributes slowly to students’ cognitive development.
In conclusion, while computers might contribute to education, I believe that teachers are a much more important factor.
