The table indicates figures for consumption on 3 particular categories in 5
countries: Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in the year of 2002. In
general, the proportions for Food, Drinks and Tobacco were highest while
spending on Leisure and Education was seen to be the lowest among all items
in 5 countries.According to the chart, people in all countries spend most on Food, Drinks
and Tobacco. With 32.14% of consuption, Turkey had the most percentage,
following by Ireland with nearly 29%. The country with lowest percentage in
this category was Italy at 16.36%. However, consumer expenditure on Food,
Drinks and Tobacco in Italy was higher than any figures of the other 2
categories.In contrast to the figure for the last items, the highest proportion of
Clothing and Footwear went on Italy at 9%. The gap between the percentage
of Italy and Sweden – country with lowest spending on clothing and footwear
– was approximately 3.50%.Expenditure on leisure activities and education seemed to be low as not
many people spend as much on them as on the other items. Turkey was the
country with most proportion of only more than 4%, whereas Spain spent the
