The table below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000.
Describe the information in the table and make comparisons where appropriate.

The table shows data on the variation of 9 modes of transport for journeys in England in the years 1985 and 2000.
Overall, the total figure of average distance in 2000 was higher than those in 1985. Particularly, in 1985, everybody didn’t travel by car, local distance bus, train, taxi and other as regular as they did in 2000. The rest of transportations in the table had a contrastive trend, which were walking, bicycle and local bus.
In 2000, the average distance that people travelled by car made up the highest increase, 1607 miles, from 3199 miles to 4806 miles. Moving by local distance bus in 1985 took 54 miles while those in 2000 took higher by 70 miles. Only 13 miles for taxi in the past and in 2000 it slightly grew to 42 miles. Likewise, other transportations had a rise from 450 miles to 85 miles.
On the other hand, in 2000, walking and bicycle were 2 selections that people didn’t choose as much as they did in 1985, declined by 18 miles and 10 miles, respectively. Local bus was the vehicle that had the highest decrease from 429 miles in 1985 to 274 miles in 2000.Attachments:
