The maps below show the village of Stokeford in 1930 and 2010.
The maps illustrate the growth of the village called Stokeford between 1930 and 2010.
It is clear from the maps that farmland had definitely disappeared by 2010. Additionally, there were many houses and secondary roads constructed.
Looking at the maps in more detail, we can see that the post office still existed, whereas shops were demolished and replaced by a lot of house. All farmlands next to the river stoke were knocked down to make way for a new square road and many houses surrounding it.
At the same time, the number of houses belong the main road significantly increased, forcing the garden to become smaller. By contrast, trees still remained and retirement home replaced all large houses. Before these developments, the farmland to the southeast of the bridge occupied a large area, however, in 2010, there was a construction of houses beside the primary school and another road was built to the south of the school.
