Some people think that governments should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss both view and give your opinion.
Many extreme sports such as car-racing, scuba diving, parachuting and so on are gaining popularity. Some people think that government should ban those sports because of its risks to both players and society, but I believe that this prohibition should not be implemented out of its obvious advantages. On the one hand, some people think risky sports need to be banned because of several reasons. Firstly, tryingextreme activities can put players’ lives in jeopardy. They encounter many unforeseeable dangers, which can not only trigger serious injuries but also deprive their lives. Parachuting, for example, is a modern sport attracting many youngsters, but if a player is not well trained about the use of equipment and problem-solving skills and then cannot open the parachute in the air, this tiny mistake will kill him. Secondly, the popularity of some dangerous sports may bring violence into the real life. Boxing and car-racing are both involved in aggression, which can obsess players, so they have a proclivity for dealing with practical problems or stress by assaulting or breaking traffic rules.
However, I hold a strong opinion that the prohibition of those activities is not vital. Each individual has right to enjoy his life and freedom of choice. Therefore, if he has a desire for thrill and adventure, no one should deter him from pursuing his passions. A height seeker should be allowed to climb mountains or try a parachute jump to satisfy himself because this activity affects no one at all. Furthermore, those sports can stimulate bravery and problem-solving skills, leading to success at work. Because every decision they make in those extreme sports endangers their lives, they hone decision-making skills under pressure. For this reason, at work or even in personal life, risky sport players can suffer stress better and come up with wise decisions in any condition.
In conclusion, albeit dangerous for both risk-takers and others, extreme sports should not be banned in order for players to achieve their personal fulfilment and become more courageous.
