Some people think that the governments should give financial support to artists, musicians and poets. Others think that it is a waste of money.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Some people hold a belief that government subsidizes should be given to creative artists, while those who oppose this idea believe that it is wasteful to give financial support to artists, musicians and poets. I believe that money for art projects should come from both governments and other sources.
On the one hand, it is vital for the government to subsidize creative artists and their projects. In fact, arts help people express their values, build bridges between cultures and bring people together regardless of ethnicity, religion, or age. However, modern people tend to underestimate the value of arts so artists do not receive a proper payment for their works. For example, most of the Vietnamese youngsters do not purchase for songs they listen but illegal download them. Consequently, it is certainly struggling for artists to earn a living as well as to enable them to work to their full potential. Moreover, arts can bring significant benefits to a domestic economy. For instance, the Vatican Museum attracts millions of international travelers on a yearly basis that actually enhances Italian tourism industry.
On the other hand, there are several arguments against government funding for art. It is undeniable that the government has to focus on important matters rather than pouring money in art projects. For example, federal funds need to be spent on education, healthcare and infrastructure in developing countries.These public services are integral for a country to function properly, whereas the work of creative artists, even in public places, is a luxury. Furthermore, artists do a job like any other professional. Hence, artists should earn their own money by selling their works.
In conclusion, I believe that financial assistance for artists could sometimes come from government and other private sponsorship.
