The bar chart compares the amount of minutes (billions) of telephone calls
made by the people in the UK, using three call types over a 7-year period. It is clear that local – fixed line was by far the most popular means of
communication used by the residents in the UK over the period shown.
Mobiles provided the lowest amount of minutes used in each year.In 1995, local-fixed line was the main contact by people, reaching over 70
billions of minutes and nearly double the amount of national and
international – fixed line. Mobiles produced a negligible amount in the
same year. Local line saw a steady rise to the peak of 90 billions of
minutes in 1999 and fell considerably in the following 3 years. However,
local line still occupied the highest rank among the three categories of
telephone calls in the UK from 1995 – 2002.National and international – fixed line was the second most popular
communication and made a stable increase by year between 1995-2002 and
reached 60 billions of minutes in 2002. We can see that mobiles rose
dramatically over the aforementioned period, attaining 45 billions of
minutes call in 2002 and it made a noticeable rise after each year in the
period. It is obvious that both national and international line and mobiles
made an increasing trend in the 7-year peiod.Attachments:
