Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.

People have different views about whether children should be taught how to become good members of society by their parents or teachers. While there are some benefits of teaching children at home, I believe that learning at schools is more efficient.
On the one hand, when a child begins to talk, both mother and father can teach them some basic phrases such as saying “thank you” when receiving something or “sorry” when he makes mistakes. At home, there is more time for parents to supervise children closely and modify inappropriate behaviors if necessary. As a result, kids may feel comfortable to share feelings, thoughts and even their personal problems to adults without hesitation because they have trust in their mom and dad and want to get some useful advice. At that time, a mother can use herself as an example of a good member of society, which easily influences her kid to adapt useful skills and correct etiquette to reality.
On the other hand, school is a better place to learn how to be good citizens due to friendly atmosphere it provides. In fact, children have more chances to interact and communicate with other students in class and learn a lot from them. Moreover, apart from compulsory subjects and moral lessons, school also offer interesting activities to help develop personal skills and know how to behave cleverly. After that, teachers can give feedbacks on good points and encourage children by giving them surprising rewards. From my point of view, this is a good way to boost students’ performance and show the importance and necessary factors of a good society’s member.
In conclusion, I can understand why people might think parents is responsible for teaching children, but it seems to me that school makes a greater contribution in forming them to become good citizens.
