The charts below show the percentage of men and women in different weight groups in England between 1993 and 2002.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

      Write at least 150 words.

The line graphs illustrate the various ratios of males and females in four groups according to weight between 1993 and 2002. At the first glance, it is obvious that health of British people in both genders was impaired as time went by.

As can be seen from the charts, women with overweight always represented the highest figure over this nine-year period, with a slight increase from 47% to 48% in 2002. By the same token, their male counterparts also took a large percentage in 1993 (42%) . Although this number was 4% lower than that of healthy men, the former overtook the later to become the first position in 2002, which was nearly 47%.

When it comes to fit UK citizens, these proportions of both accounted for a quite substantial figure, with 46% for men and 40% for women in 1993. But sadly, these decreased gradually to 38% and 31% respectively after nine years. Meanwhile, obesity status in England became more serious over this period. The ratio of obese UK residents rose sharply by 5% on average. Fortunately, alarming healthy condition was still constant for all Britons, with just 2%.
