Some people think that the teenage years are the happiest time of most people’s lives. Others think that adult life brings more happiness, in spite of greater responsibility. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Some say that their most favourable time is spent when they were teenagers, while others would argue that that being an adult would be more enjoyable despite a number of worries they have to deal with. This essay argues that teenage years would be less stressful than adults’ life and thus is more preferable.
On the one hand, a huge amount of responsibility leads to the fact that it is very difficult to fulfil one’s life when they are mature. Specifically, it is a rule of thumb that after growing up, almost everyone is expected to work and to take care of their family. As a result, grown-ups may feel under pressure due to too many obligations, such as earning money, nurturing their children, supporting their parents, paying monthly bills and their credit cards. To illustrate, according to a report from Oxford University, 60% of adults admitted that they used to suffer from some forms of mental illness because of either their jobs or family-related-issues.
On the other hand, compared to adults, adolescents have less to worry about as they are financially supported from their families. In fact, most live with their parents who will pay for all their offspring’s needs and teenagers only need to concentrate on their studies. As a consequence, they are less likely to face any pressure and will have more spare time to enjoy their lives. For instance, The Sunday Times recently asked a number of adults how they felt at the ages of 13 to 18 and most people said that it was the best time in their lives.
In conclusion, in spite of being able to earn and spend money, adult life is tougher than teenager life because teenagers have less concern than adults.Attachments:
