Schools concentrate far too much on traditional subjects which do not adequately prepare students for the realistic demands of the modern working world.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

For years the concerns about pre-designed programs devoid of pragmatism have been raised when the conventional schooling covers a vastly larger amount of theoretical knowledge than necessary. However, to my strong belief, the focus on classical subjects should be maintained for several tremendously practical reasons.
Firstly and doubtlessly, traditional subjects have been providing fundamental knowledge for generations of students over centuries. Although reaching the level of professionals in all majors is completely unnecessary, we still have to be able to deal with day-to-day basic caculus, among which paying bills is just one instance. Secondly, through the practice of general knowledge learners will gain prime skills which prepare the ground for their career paths. For example, the famaliarity with natural science will increase the human brain power in critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis. Similarly, reading hundreds or thoudsands of pages in literature, be it classic or mordern, not only scale up the vocabulary and lexical use of learners but also encourage their imagination, sympathy and creativeness. If children who are found gifted in special fields decide to bypass other subjects in the curriculum, it will be such a loss to their possibility to develop comprehensively in the future.
On the other hand, with higher education, especially undergraduate schooling, intimate specialized knowledge for the labor market is of paramount importance. However, this only resonates if the market stays the same over time. In reality, market demand changes continually; therefore, it is easier to envision customized courses for all occupations than to actualize them and, more importantly, to make them work in our favor. What is taught today may become old-fashioned in almost no time. Likewise, by this stage, people should have been on their own initiative to learn from different sources. These sources may include online courses, digital books, public forums and whatever will be developed. On top of that, even the best designed course is unable to supply all the knowledge and information one would need in his career life. Inversely, their adaptibility to the requirements of the market will be the most potent weapon to be possessed.
In short, I advocate the idea of traditional education approach where each and every of requisite subjects is included. It is the learning spirit that will sow in the heart of students the eager for multiple fields which will accompany them throught their lives.
