ESSAY:
The three maps illustrate the tranformation of Queen Mary Hospital from 1960 to 2000.
Overall, Queen Mary Hospital developed into a medical-specialized neighbor, cutting out shopping centre and the farmland, and even changing the area ratio between places.
In the period of twenty years from 1960, the easten site of the area remained the same, including hospital in the northeast and a parking lot in the south. Whereas, a pharmacy next to the hospital and a cancer centre were built right on the site of the old shopping centre. In the southwest part of the construction, the farmland turned into a nursing school.
As another twenty years go by, in 2000, the car park and the nursing school were diminished half of their original size, made room for cancer centre, which increasingly third times since it was established in 1980. In addition, hospital and adjusted pharmacy stayed the same during this course of time.
