Task1:

The line graph illustrates the emissions from industry, transport, households in the UK in the period of 15 years.

It can be seen that the overall was a downward trend. The total air pollution fell between these years. The decrease of industry was significantly.

It is clear that the number of industry drop down from 6 million tonnes in 1990 to 3 million tonnes in 1996, while transport and households emission fluctuated. In the same period, total air pollutants decreased sharply and reached 4 million tonnes in 1999.

From 1999 to 2005, there is a remarkable decline of both industry and total air pollutants, which peaked the low point approximately 3.2 million tonnes and 2 million tonnes respectively. While the number of transport increased slowly in 2002 then remained steady till 2005, household emissions fell from around 0.9 million tonnes to 0.2 million tonnes in 2005.
