The line graph illustrate the amount of carbon dioxide released per person in four nations in four decades from 1967.
Overall, there was a significant change on the figure of each country during the 40-year period. While Italy and Portugal’s breakdowns experienced a drastic downward trend, that of Sweden and United Kingdom dropped considerably.
In 1967, British residents emitted the largest amount of CO2, at nearly 11 metric tonnes per person. Followed by Sweden, this nation also discharged a huge amount of hazardous gas, which was mere 2 metric tonnes lower than Britain’s. The two remaining countries, Italy and Portugal, accounted for the positive figures, which were both less than 5 metric tonnes, at approximately 4 and 1, respectively.
During the next 40 years, the figure for CO2 released of England decreased gradually and reached less than 9 metric tonnes in 2007. This figure of Sweden fluctuated and peaked at more than 10 in 1977, however, it finally fell dramatically to merely 6 metric tonnes. By contrast, Italy and Portugal witnessed an upward trend, they surged up to 4 more metric tonnes each by the end of the period. Nevertheless, throughout the given charts, England’s figure remained as a highest one.
