The graph below shows UK acid rain emissions, measured in millions of tones, from four different sectors between 1990 and 2007.

The graph compares the quantity of acid rain emissions over the course of 17 years between 1991 and 2007 in the UK.
Overall, it is clear that there was a general decline of electricity, gas and water supply, domestic and other industries. Nevertheless, transport and communication remained stable over 17 years.
In 1990, electricity, gas and water supply topped the list of acid rain emissions with 3.3 million tonnes, far exeeding domestic and other industries which were 0.6 and 2.1 million tonnes. In the 1990-1994, domestic and other industries electricity maintained stable with that of 1990 before dropping to 0.2 and 1.2 respectively in 2007. The amount of acid gas emissions of electricity, gas and water supply decreased rapidly to 1.3 million tonnes in 1996. It then experienced a mere fluctuation before plunging to its rock bottom at 0.5 million tonnes in 2007.
Over the same period, the amount of acid rain emissions of transport and communication varied more stable than that of electricity, gas and water supply, domestic and other industries. Throughout the remainder of the 1990 – 2007 period (0.6-0.8 tonnes), there was a gradual increase, which reach a peak of 1 million tonnes by the year of 2005. It then dropped to the amount of 1990-2007 (0.8 tonnes).
