The table compares the percentage of men and women aged 15 and 75 during the year 1911,1961 and 2011 in Great Britain.
Overall, it is noticeable that the proportion of citizens aged 15 witnessed a reduction, while there was an increase in the figure for those aged 75. Also, the number of elderly women was significantly higher in comparison to men during the period shown.
Regarding those aged 15, the number of females experienced a downward trend, beginning with approximately 335.000 in 1911 and finishing 333.700 in 2011. The opposite was seen for males, the figure for this gender saw a gradual climb, starting at 334.241 in 1911, finally reaching the figure of 354.400 at the end of the period.
In terms of elderly citizens aged 75, there was a significant increase in the number of both men and women by 1961, at 160.200 and 254.900 respectively. In the following years, the number of elderly women reduced to finish at 210.000, while that for men continued to rise to 181.300 in 2011.
