Topic 4: Sports
- Do you like playing sports?
Well to be honest, I would say that I am actually quite keen on playing sports, but I would probably have to say that I enjoy badminton the most. It not only releases stress and refreshes my mind, but it also gives me a sense of solidarity with (cảm giác đoàn kết với) my friends. In addition to badminton, I’m pretty fond of swimming, which is due to the fact that it has all the benefits, and strengthens all my muscles (cơ bắp) equally.
- How often do you play sports?
Well, I would have to say that it really depends on the situation. For instance, if I have time, then it is quite possible that I will go swimming every day. You know, this sport improves my health and gets me into shape. Whereas, if I don’t have much time, it’s more likely that I will skip rope (nhảy dây) in my room 3 times a week.
- What sports are most popular in your country?
Well, it goes without saying that there is quite a variety of sports in my country. But the most popular would be swimming. And the explanation for this could be that it not only releases stress, and refreshes your mind but also benefits all your muscles. Another popular team sport would be football, simply because it’s the king of sports. Additionally, there are other kinds of sports like tennis and volleyball, but they are not as widely-played as the first two.
- Do you think it is important to play a sport?
Well actually, I guess that in many ways it is quite important; especially when you consider that many people choose sports as hobbies. In fact, playing strenuous sports makes people more energetic and stronger day by day (ngày qua ngày). But you also have to understand that some people who have low salaries must work not only in the daytime, but also in the evening or at night, so these people have little or no time at all to play sports. All in all, I guess my answer would have to be yes for most people, but no for some.
- What sport would you like to try in the future? (Same as topic 3, number 7)
- Do you prefer watching or playing sports?
Generally speaking, I prefer playing team sports, especially those like badminton. But I am also very fond of solo sports, particularly swimming. Sometimes I watch sports on TV, usually something special like SEA games or Olympics, but that’s not as exciting for me as being a participant.
