- Do you like listening to music?
Well to be honest, I would say that I’m really keen on listening to music. And the explanation could be that I can take it easy after a hard-studying day and also get into the wonderful songs performed by my favourite singers.
- What types of music do you like listening to?
Well, I would say that I do love pop music because it’s not only the simple themes but also the soothing lyric. Another type that I often get into (enjoy) would be something like rock music. I guess the reason why is that I always feel energetic and joyful when I listen to this kind of music:
- Where do you usually listen to music?
To be honest, I would have to say that it really depends on the situation. For instance, if I have money, then it’s quite possible that I’ll go to my favourite coffee shop to listen to music. However, the price of one drink in the coffee shop is pretty pricey in Viet Nam. Whereas, in contrast if I’m broke, it’s more likely that I will stay at home and listen to music on my DVD player.
- Can you play any musical instruments?
Generally speaking, I would have to say that I can not play any musical instruments. Honestly, I took a crack at (= try) piano but I realised that it was quite demanding (doi hoi khat khe) and I didn’t have the time needed for practicing every day.
- Do you think it’s important for children to learn to play a musical instrument?
Actually, when I think about it, I would say that it’s fairly important. Children who can play musical instruments have very good chances to develop their brains. Furthermore, playing musical instruments opens up (mo ra) a lot of good possibilities that will surely enrich their life.
However, if children are beginners, it can be frustrating, sometimes it can also cause stress in some children. All in all I guess my answer would have to be yes for most children but no for some.
- Do you prefer listening to live performances or recorded music?
I think that I prefer listening to live performances, as a result of that I can see the singers and get into (enjoy) the lively atmosphere at the concert.
