The graphs illustrate the consumption of 4 types of food used in the word in 2008, and the figures are compared to the amount of food used in china and India in the same year.

It is clear that processed food consumption accounted for the largest percentages in all the three charts. By contrast, nuts and seeds was the lowest purchase in China, India and the world.

Processed food made up 41% of food consumption in the world, which is the highest figure compared with 34% in China or 39% in India. On the other hand, Chinese consumed a greater relative amount of vegetables and fruits (32%) than people around the world in general (29%) and Indian (23%). The proportion of animal food in India was lowest, at 15%, compared with roughly the same number in both India and China, about 26%.

The fourth item is nuts and seeds, which constituted 4% of food consumption in the world, but the figure was over double in India, and went up nearly fivefold in China.
