TOPIC: New technology has changed the way children spend their free time. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
It is a fact that technological inventions in digital era have changed our life in various aspects. One of them is the tendency of the youth to prefer using technological devices to other activities in their spare time, which brings them both positive and negative effects.
When it comes to the advantages of technology, there is no doubt that electronic devices are extremely useful for the young generation in terms of entertainment. Technology is a bridge that connects the users, children, with the infinite entertainment world. Such hi-tech devices as tablets or smart phones allow children to enjoy every moment of the spare time with their favorite games and films that are available on the internet. Furthermore, with technological devices, students are able to get access to various sources of information to open their mind about the world, which is beneficial for both their study and amusement.
However, because children are not well-educated about how to utilize the advantages of technology, they are more likely to be negatively influenced. One apparent evidence is that children tend to spend their time after school online on talking in the social networks rather than face-to-face ones. This trend gradually impair their communication skills, which is the reason for misunderstanding and conflicts among teenagers in real life. More seriously, there is a large number of children using the internet in free time to get access to unwholesome information and get familiar with news, films that contain inappropriate contents. This phenomenon is really a threat to the development of children and may lead them to serious mental and psychological issues.
In conclusion, technology is a great tool for entertainment purposes, but in my opinion, it is spoiling the young generation rather than bringing them relaxation in free time.
