Topic: Many parents complain that computer games have no value to their children’s studies. On the contrary, those online games have produced a lot of negative effects on their mental and physical development. What is your opinion?

Answer

It is true that computer games not only have little value but also provide a lot of harmful effect on their mental and physical development. In my opinion, I completely agree with this idea.

There are several reasons why children should not be encouraged to play computer games. One reason is that most of online games on computer can be extremely addictive, leading to students spend a lot of time to sit in front of screens. As a result, they do not have enough time for sport activities and this may put their health in jeopardy. According to a recent report, the obesity rate among aged 13 to 18 accounted for 40 percent in 2015, following an upward trend next years. In which, one of the main factors is lack of physical exercises.

A part from disadvantages of playing computer games expressed above, I believe that it also has negative effects on children’s studies and behaviors. Firstly, online games can hurt children ability to concentrate on their studies and school assignments. Therefore, they tend to drop out of school and suffer from social evils easily. Last but not least, computer games always contain a large number of violent and sexual images, which may lead to increase aggressive feelings and behaviors on children because they prefer to copy what they see on screens.

In conclusion, it is certainly true that computer games have harmful influence on children’s development and parents should control their children’s access to computer games.
