Advertisements are becoming more and more common in everyday life. Is it a positive or negative development? ( Revised)
It is true that advertisements are an increasingly popular trend toward people’s daily life. Despite some obvious disadvantages of this trend, I believe that these are outweighed by the advantages.
On the one hand, there are two major reasons why people support the advertising. Firstly, advertisements inform consumers of the greater arrays of selections they have. This means that without advertising we would have less choice. For example, when people intend to buy a pair of shoes from famous brand such as NIKE, ADDIDAS, they will browse the advertisements on the Internet about these products including features, color, prices and make a decision to purchase them according to their interest and budget. Secondly, as a form of modern art, companies use the advertisements to tell customers about their products as well as promotions sales. Furthermore, advertising is not only increase revenue for companies but also expands the market. This could be creates job opportunities for citizens. The more commercials there are, the less severe unemployment situation becomes. Therefore, it is beneficial to economic growth and improves people’s general living standards.
On the other hand, I believe that increasing advertising will affect consumer culture that might be out of reality. Being inundated with commercials whether on the Internet or in a magazines, people are often tempted to buy things that they do not really need with money they do not really have. For instance, beauty brands launch their new products through advertising campaigns have attracted and encouraged many women to buy several products which are essential for their daily life to look beautiful even these items are a bit/ relatively pricey. Furthermore, advertising is not only target to people of all ages in general but also children in particular. Since children are easy influenced by advertisements, they put pressure on their parents to buy them. As a result, the rise in the amount of advertising turns society into a materialistic one and effects negatively the vulnerable youngsters.
In conclusion, I would like to argue that the drawbacks of this modern trend are more significant than the benefits.Attachments:
