Many people argue that newcomers should adapt to local culture and customs when they move to a new country. I completely agree with this view.
Firstly, people must respect the customs or rules in the country they want to settle down in. Because these were born and have existed for a long time, newcomers are not able to change it immediately. In addition, most law systems are based on the local customs and traditions. So if new residents observe those, they can avoid some pitfalls or unexpected conflicts. For instance, if Indonesians move to Vietnam, they should not use firework in special celebrations. Because despite being popular in Indonesia, that is illegal in these countries.
In the results of following the local customs in the new country, there are numerous advantages the foreigners to integrate into local society. It is clear that the foreigners who have huge knowledge of local culture can gain sympathy from native residents. Hence, they can make more friends and get more helps. Furthermore, new residents also can enjoy local festivals, taste new delicious kinds of food. That can help them feel like they are in their second home.
In conclusion, I would hold the opinion that it is essential for new residents to observe the traditions and customs in the host community in order to blend into local society entirely.
