Some people think that everyone has the right to have access to university education, and that government should make it free for all students no matter what financial background they have. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.

It is believed that tuition fees in higher level education should be totally paid by the government due to the fact that all students are championed to obtain knowledge. As far as I am concerned, I totally disagree with this point of view.
Advocates of providing free university education may argue that each person has the privilege to acquire further study and well-educated students will contribute enormously to a highly qualified workforce in the long run. Therefore, it is inherently the responsibility of the government to encourage all pupils’ learning process. However, such standpoint is flawed. There are also various types of grants from universities as well as authorities for students who encounter pecuniary difficulties. Moreover, a country nowadays has to face other pressing issues which urgently require financial support from the government.
I am of the opinion that students also have to pay for their schooling. Firstly, public fund has its own limit and it should be spread evenly among different sectors. For example, investing in health care services such as constructing hospitals in rural areas is of the same great importance as that in education. Secondly, if the students have to pay for course fees, they will be more responsible for their studies. In that case, they also will be dedicated to their performance at school, which is considered to be a positive impact. Moreover, the government has also subsidized for a wide range of teaching facilities, which partly reduces burden on students’ budget.
In conclusion, schooling fees should not be totally publicly funded for all students at universities. It would be more reasonable for those who wish to get further education to pay for their own courses and for the sake of sustainable development of a country.
