Art classes such as painting or drawing are important for children’s development, so it should be compulsory in high school. Do you agree or disagree?
Many people claim that art courses play a vitally important role in children’s development. While it is true that art classes are beneficial for children to some extent, I would argue that it should not be mandatory in high school.
To begin with, there are several reasons why these classes such as painting and drawing are essential for children’s progress. One of those reasons is that these classes can allow children to enhance their imagination and creactivity. For instance, by looking at the portrayals that created with vivid colors, children are required to think outside the box to understand the deep meanings of artist creations, which contributes significantly to their spiritual grwoth. Additionally, since the pressures of schoolwork are very tremendous, children have tried painting and drawing as a form of recreational activities to relieve stress. This means that children can be able to free themselves by releasing the burden in a form of colors and drawing.
However, I believe that high schools should not make art classes mandatory. First, due to teaching art for children who are not interested in, the children would not be trying as hard as they should. As a result, they might feel like they are wasting their time and should be concentrating on a different class. Second, if pupils do know that they are not good at art classes as their classmates, it would reduce their self-esteem. For example, some children who cannot sing well may feel embarrassed during the lessons, which negatively affects their development.
In conclusion, while it is true that art courses had some pros for children’s development, I believe that these high school should not make these classes compulsory for high school students.
