In some countries, good schools and medical facilities are available only in cities. Some people think new teachers and doctors should be required to work in rural areas for a few years, but others think everyone should be free to choose where they work. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
There is an argument whether newly graduated teachers and doctors should be forced to work in rural areas that are a lack of good educational institutions and medical facilities or it is better for them to decide where they work. This essay discusses both views mentioned above and then I will give my own opinion.
On the one hand, there are sevral reasons why new teachers and doctors should be able to choose where they work. One of those reasons is that they have the right and purposes to choose a workplace that has favourable working conditions to pave the way for their development. For instance, since educational institutions and medical sectors are usually well-equipped with modern facilities such as projectors or x-ray machines, these people can have a better chance to take advantage of these equipment to conduct their researches, which allows them to discover new methods to teach students or cure patients in a better way. Additionally, if these new graduated individuals are sent to a distant place, they would become less productive, which shows a negative attitude towards their career. Therefore, fewer students would choose to become teachers and doctors in the future, which leads to the shortage of employment in these areas.
On the other hand, I believe that it is a brilliant idea to send new teachers and doctors to the countryside for a few years. First, as remote areas are a lack of facilities, the arrival of well-trained teachers and doctors would provide better education and health care services. This would significantly contribute to the living standard of indigenous citizens. Second, this policy is also likely to play a vitally important role in preventing rural inhabitants from moving to big cities in search of schools and medical facilities. As a result, we can avoid overpopulation phenomenon in large urban cities.
In conclusion, while some believe new teachers and doctors should be free to decide to choose their workplace, I would argue that they should be sent to remote places to work for a few years.
