The bar chart provides information about the numbers of the actual and projected population size in three cities over a period of a decade starting in 1990.
Overall, the data for the actual population size in all three cities were higher than those for the expected ones. Also, the figures for the expected popuation size in Jakarta and Sao Paulo experienced upward trends, while those for Shanghai decreased during the researched period.
In 1990, the number of people in Sao Paulo was highest, at roughly 17 million, which was followed by that in Shanghai, at approximately 12 million. Meanwhile, around 9 million people lived in Jakarta. With respects to the projected population size, in 2000, there were significant increases to about 11 and 21 million people living in Jakarta and Sao Paulo respectively. By contrast, the quantity of people in Shanghai declined gradually to nearly 11 million.
In terms of the real population size, in 2000, the figures for Jakarta and Sao Paulo climbed considerably to around 12.5 and 24 million correspondingly. At the same time, there was a sharp growth to precisely 15 million people in Shanghai as the period wrapped up in 2000.
