It is not necessary to travel to other places to learn the culture of other people. We can just learnmuch from books, films and the Internet. Do you agree or disagree?
Many people claim that we can learn about other cultures through books, films, and the Internet instead of visiting other places. While it is true that there are many information we can acquire from books, films, and the Internet, I would argue that it is essential for us to go to different destinations in order to learn about cultures.
To begin with, books, films, and the Internet are useful sources for us to obtain information about cultures. First, since films and the Internet offer a wide range of information, we can easily gain knowledge about different cultures in a short time without having to go anywhere. For example, by surfing the Internet at home, we can easily have access to a website to watch a series of sitcom “Friends” that shows us the clear images of lifestyle and behavioural manners of American, which allows us to communicate proper with foreign people. Second, as books might provide much more vivid portrayal of cultures, it is a fun way to entertain and learn about cultures. For instance, by reading Sherlock Holmes, we can learn a wealth of knowledge about traditions with photographic pictures in England, which helps us easily remember what we have read.
However, I believe we need to travel if we want to learn about the culture of other people around the world. Firstly, in order to immerse in the real atmosphere with new experience, travelling to other countries is a must-do. In fact, those who decide to take a vacation to France will able to visit the Effel Tower that is different from it actually looks like through books, films, and the Internet. In addition, by staying inside local tourist attractions, people can take part in festivals. As a result, people can learn much more knowledge about the habits and customs of different people than only sitting at home.
In conclusion, while it is true that we can learn the culture of other people living in the parts of the world through books, films, and the Internet, I believe we should travel to other places to know knowledge about other cultures.
