Nowadays animal experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favor of them because of their benefits to humanity.
Over the past few decades, animal right has always been a controversial topic among the public. Some adopt a view that scientists should stop their experiments on animals, while opponents make a case for benefits of taking full advantages of animals. From my perspective, such experiments should be reduced gradually, but not be forbidden immediately.
On the one hand, it is pivotal to recognize that animal experiments can significantly contribute to people’s development. Firstly, extraction from such creatures is usually utilized to save millions of patients every year. As a typical illustration, rhinos’ horn is considered the best medicine for cancer, which has been an incurable disease in recent decades. Secondly, to invent novel drugs successfully, animals should be scapegoats of human in testing the effectiveness of such substances. If the safety of medicines is not checked sufficiently and carefully, it is too dangerous for convalescents to use. Therefore, animal experiments are really essential in terms of medical research.
On the other hand, although mankind is unique and superior to animals, they do not have the right to cruelly kill those species. Regardless of being poultry or livestock, they have the feelings like human, thereby suffering from the pains of death. This is the reason why the lives of animal should be respected. Moreover, a multitude of animals are standing on the verge of extinction due to excessively exploiting them. For instance, aforementioned rhinos became one of endangered species because of the value of their horn. It is extremely traumatic for these rhinos to survive without their horn, which is harnessed for cancer drugs.
In conclusion, notwithstanding the large benefits of employing animals in medical field, we should cut back our reliance on such species as time goes by. Scientists need to develop new technology that can save human’s lives in the absence of animals for the sake of humanitarian and creature diversification.
