The provided chart illustrates the average minimum and maximum levels of NO2 and SO2 which made four particularly cities polluted in 2000.
Overall, it is apparent that Mexico City witnessed the highest rate of air pollution in the year 2000. Besides, the emission of NO2 caused mainly to air pollution in Los Angeles and Mexico City. By contrast, Calcutta and Beijing was polluted severely because of SO2 emission.
Looking more closely at the given chart, we can see that the mean maximum level of NO2 and SO2 emission in Mexico City took the dominant position at 207 and 200 micrograms per m3 separately. Interestingly, the average maximum rate of NO2 emitted in Los Angeles nearly halved compared to that in Mexico City at 104 micrograms per m3. In terms of the mean maximum and minimum levels of SO2 released, they were 200 and 80 micrograms per m3 each in Mexico City and 10 and 2 micrograms per m3 respectively in Los Angeles.
As can be seen from the chart, coming to the second position is the mean daily maximum rates of air pollutants in Beijing. To be precise, they were 130 and 54 micrograms per m3 separately. On the contrary, those in Calcutta were lower, which were 59 and 52 micrograms per m3 each. Regarding the average daily minimum level of the emission of NO2, in Calcutta, it was approximately double compared to that in Beijing at 30 micrograms per m3. Finally, in terms of that of the emission of SO2 in both Calcutta and Beijing, they were 47 and 25 micrograms per m3 each.Attachments:
