The bar chart shows the numbers of children aged 5 to 14 year-olds who take part in 5 different kinds of leisure activities in Australia.
Overall, it is obvious that the figure for boys is always higher than that for girls in three kinds of activities with notable exceptions of watching television and doing art and craft
While the percentage of boys playing skateboarding and rollerblading accounts for nearly two fifths, the figure for girls is slightly lower, at over a quarter. Likewise, the proportion of young boys participating bike riding makes up just under three out of four, compared to approximately three fifths of young girls.
In term of electronic and computer games, the figure for boys is just over four in five and three in five for girls, a difference of a fifth.
The only activity which is becoming more popular with girls than boys is art and craft. The number of boys taking part in that activity is significantly lower than that of girls, which takes up nearly a third and three fifths, respectively.
